There is an old farmhouse that sits quietly night after night. Slowly weathering, crumbling and disappearing. All it’s stories, it’s history seemingly uninteresting to most, merely the sight of something of the past and needs to be removed for something new. The land it sits on is its only value to most. Vast and full of future potential. Little to most know, there it is it’s stories and history that brings the most value. Time grows shorter with each night that passes to pull those important pieces together to tell those stories.

The house, it’s two barns, garage, smaller shed and it’s vast once rich corn field surrounding it all hold a few secrets. Some in plain sight, some through documented records and other more intricate aspects through investigations into it’s paranormal presence. Of course to most that means nothing without science in that equation. Yet, it is the scientific knowledge being used to weed out the mysteries this old farmhouse hides.

For most who first visit this farmhouse and its surrounds, there is a sense of some foreboding presence, something dreadful and awaiting in the shadows. Where others feel helplessness, a deep sadness of a mother who lost her children or child and is forever searching for them, weeping for them. Then there is to some, just a sense of quiet peacefulness with subtle hints of something playful wanting to interact.

You see, just because those families that once filled that old farmhouse with their daily routines, habits and energy have all but completely disappeared. They are there still there, at least some of them, the residual echoes play out and in some insistence often intelligent. All of which slowly give us and idea of what their stories were, hiding quietly in the dark.

Since 2008, Southern Ontario Paranormal Society has been actively researching, investigation and documenting The Tremaine House. For almost 10 years now there is still many secrets yet to unfold in knowing the full history/story that the old farmhouse has to tell.

Hopefully before time runs out for the house, we can finally tell the full story, share it with you all. Myself personally have many interesting tales from the very first time discovering the old abandoned farmhouse to the many visits investigating it. As do others from SOPS. Some of which we have already told.

For as long as we have looked upon the unknown it has been strongly influenced by religious undertones. Well, more like guidelines really. Filtering not only our views, but the way we’ve investigated the realm. Yes, science has also played a huge part in shaping our understanding of it, explaining many aspects over the years, but still religion still seems to trump things.

For one, many still believe that “ghosts”, “spirits” or many paranormal phenomenas are results of that of our dearly departed in one form or another. This has been the common theme for many in trying to understand the paranormal. Many will not bother to step outside that “safezone” in learning or furthering the understanding of it all. Much of all this is dated research hampered down by religious beliefs.

Sure there are many researchers that have broke that mold. Maybe be through science or simply by thinking outside the box. With new science in explaining or beginning to aspects that were theories once. Aspects like multi-verses or parallel universes. Start to make theories like many paranormal experiences are in fact not the results of the dearly departed or restless souls, but glitches within some time continuum. Rare time slips interacting with each other.

How our body’s own frequency interacts not only with the environment around it but the universe as a whole. Energy, yet another unseen element in many aspects is something we need to understand in a much larger level.

There are so many different cutting edge research, experimentation and investigations into the paranormal that are bringing pieces of the unknown together for a better understanding of what was once dark into the light. In the next couple of blog entries I will explore some of these exciting ventures.

Like the ever changing landscape of religion and mass belief so is the way we look at the paranormal. Forget what much of the TV shows preach, remember it’s for entertainment purposes. Don’t always believe what they are telling you…..

Ok, so I’ve been slacking with these more regular blog entries. Well, at least I have at least one excuse, the holidays diverted a bulk of my attention. Now that they are long over with and here we are in the ever so mentioned 2012, maybe these entries will be more regular as promised. Well, depending on if the prophecy of Armageddon doesn’t sidetrack that! Of course, I’m not much of a believer in that whole money grabbing schematic anyhow.

One thing is for sure, I’m actually very excited to get back into the heat of investigating the paranormal. That too has taken a bit of a holiday as well. So, finally tonight things begin to roll once again! Along with the group I founded back in 2005 SOPS we are returning to a location that has always been a special place for me. A place that we have experienced many different aspects that seem to defy our current understanding of the unknown, including some of my more memorable personal experiences.

Those close to me know exactly which location I’m referring too. Due to some rogue elements that tend to be a throne in our side and too many that research this area seriously, I’m keeping it on the lowdown until we have completed the task.

This time, we will be expanding the field of our investigation into this location with two new elements. One of which I have been a huge skeptic of. The first being Full Spectral Video, something I have wanted to experiment with for awhile now and finally will tonight. The second being the one I’ve been a huge skeptic of but have decided to give it a try, the ITC Spirit Box or to some The Ghost Box. I’m still not completely convinced of its effectiveness through what I have read and some of the poor examples of “evidence” that people publish as such. So, tonight we will put this little instrument to the test and see for ourselves.

All in all, the main objective is to learn and at the same time have fun with the investigation. There needs to be that balance to fully understand just what we are searching for. Though always remembering that we must be vigilante in what we “claim” to be “evidence” leaving it open for you all to make that judgement call yourselves. What we present is simply beyond our understanding and scrutiny through those in the exact fields that would harbor better knowledge in the medium in which the specific “evidence” falls under. You notice I don’t mention “experts” in there at all. For good reason, I believe even those “experts” ate humbled when it comes to examine the great unknown!

My team,Southern Ontario Paranormal Society started investigating and later researching the ruins of a mill that has come to be known as The German Mill. Built in the 1840’s as a woolen mill and then later becoming a bed and breakfast before it’s abandonment in the early 1900’s. Today, it lay in ruins, it’s sturdy shell all that remains. It’s history is vague, scattered with only small glimpses of newspaper articles. Most of it’s reported paranormal history has been passed down through myth and personal experiences. Our task has been trying to uncover any legitimate activity, if that’s possible. For the past 4 years SOPS has carried out over 6 investigations at the mill, with little documented evidence. Though, the time in location has proven that it is only a matter of time before more documented proof could be on it’s way. Many experiences have been shared by many of the team members. Everything from mysterious native drum beats off in the distance with no reserves in the area. To a mysterious white veiled woman and several feelings of a presence. Of course much of this really means nothing without documented evidence, of which we are working very hard to discover.

With another investigation on the horizon, we felt it was important to share with the paranormal community our research into this very historic location. Through our media representation, SOPSTV we are currently working on the latest installment episode dealing with the mill research and investigations over the years. The episode itself should be ready for all to watch by the end of June. In the meantime here’s the last teaser trailer to enjoy!!

The paranormal field is cutthroat, to the very bone. A field that is not only highly exploited now, but under constant scurtiny from various outside sources that include not only the scientific realm, but through the atheistic eye as well.

Still, one that investigates the often dark bowels of the unknown, you must grow a thick skin and further more choose your comrades in arms with precision. Something that is often very hard and at times almost impossible to do.

The reason I’m exploring this here in my blog is not to sit here and whine or bash anyone, but bring awareness to those of us who are passionate and very serious about finding those keys to the greater knowledge of the paranormal.

In recent weeks there have been events that have unfolded causing me to rethink not only my direction (or lack of in the last little while) but to clean up some rather loose ends. To gear my person stake or interests in researching and investigation back to the grassroots where it all began.

Though already getting back out there after a long hiatus from the hunt had sort of jump started this revolution of sorts, these events have pushed it along even further. Those who know me, know what I spoke, have the knowledge and understanding of just what events I speak of.

The focus now is not on what others are saying to crush the passion, or that seeking some sort of fame from this realm. Becoming apart of that exploitation that I often speak of. No, the road now paved before me is that of letting the work and results speaking for themselves. Both on an individual level and with my investigate group, The Southern Ontario Paranormal Society.

My approach to the paranormal has always been with skeptical eyes wide open, but never to outright debunk something that yields more then the scientific realm or athiestic view can themselves prove or explain. Though it is at the sametime good to have these elements to keep things honest, to have people who explore the paranormal from exploiting it.

It had been quite awhile since really going out and getting into the thick of things. I mean, haunting, grass roots paranormal style! For awhile there I felt that I had lost myself as to where things stood with my position in the community on a whole. That I was trying to do too much, thinning myself right out and totally losing that focus, the real reason why I do this. I gathered the troops, a few of the SOPS members and traveled to a favorite location of mine, the ruins of the German Mill located just south of Cambridge, Ontario. We had been there several times over the course of the last few years, but sadly have found very little in the way of “evidence” to back any claim of this area being active or at least as of now. Though in the beginning upon our first daytime scouting trip to the mill did produce a very demonic sounding EVP. There has been some very mysterious drum beats in the distance playing out on a few occasions, something after looking further into still remains unknown in origin. Still, the research continues in hopes that we will indeed be successful soon. Anyhow, this latest visit was different on a whole different scale. For the first time in quite awhile, it felt honest, it felt like the old days, and most of all the most important aspect of why I like investigating the paranormal came back.  Not only that, it seemed to have opened up my senses more. No, not claiming in a psychic way, but as a whole better understanding the complete environment around me there. Who knows, the first step to becoming a full fledged medium….I don’t think so!

With this renewal like experience where investigating the paranormal is concerned. It has my thoughts racing as to bringing together a busy schedule for the SOPS teams. Visiting locations we have wanted to for a long time. Yet, exploring completely new locations or locations that have yield themselves to us consciously. Whichever way the direction runs in this year, I’m just glad that things seems to be moving in the right direction.  I look forward to networking with many of those in the paranormal. reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones.
