There is an old farmhouse that sits quietly night after night. Slowly weathering, crumbling and disappearing. All it’s stories, it’s history seemingly uninteresting to most, merely the sight of something of the past and needs to be removed for something new. The land it sits on is its only value to most. Vast and full of future potential. Little to most know, there it is it’s stories and history that brings the most value. Time grows shorter with each night that passes to pull those important pieces together to tell those stories.

The house, it’s two barns, garage, smaller shed and it’s vast once rich corn field surrounding it all hold a few secrets. Some in plain sight, some through documented records and other more intricate aspects through investigations into it’s paranormal presence. Of course to most that means nothing without science in that equation. Yet, it is the scientific knowledge being used to weed out the mysteries this old farmhouse hides.

For most who first visit this farmhouse and its surrounds, there is a sense of some foreboding presence, something dreadful and awaiting in the shadows. Where others feel helplessness, a deep sadness of a mother who lost her children or child and is forever searching for them, weeping for them. Then there is to some, just a sense of quiet peacefulness with subtle hints of something playful wanting to interact.

You see, just because those families that once filled that old farmhouse with their daily routines, habits and energy have all but completely disappeared. They are there still there, at least some of them, the residual echoes play out and in some insistence often intelligent. All of which slowly give us and idea of what their stories were, hiding quietly in the dark.

Since 2008, Southern Ontario Paranormal Society has been actively researching, investigation and documenting The Tremaine House. For almost 10 years now there is still many secrets yet to unfold in knowing the full history/story that the old farmhouse has to tell.

Hopefully before time runs out for the house, we can finally tell the full story, share it with you all. Myself personally have many interesting tales from the very first time discovering the old abandoned farmhouse to the many visits investigating it. As do others from SOPS. Some of which we have already told.

For as long as we have looked upon the unknown it has been strongly influenced by religious undertones. Well, more like guidelines really. Filtering not only our views, but the way we’ve investigated the realm. Yes, science has also played a huge part in shaping our understanding of it, explaining many aspects over the years, but still religion still seems to trump things.

For one, many still believe that “ghosts”, “spirits” or many paranormal phenomenas are results of that of our dearly departed in one form or another. This has been the common theme for many in trying to understand the paranormal. Many will not bother to step outside that “safezone” in learning or furthering the understanding of it all. Much of all this is dated research hampered down by religious beliefs.

Sure there are many researchers that have broke that mold. Maybe be through science or simply by thinking outside the box. With new science in explaining or beginning to aspects that were theories once. Aspects like multi-verses or parallel universes. Start to make theories like many paranormal experiences are in fact not the results of the dearly departed or restless souls, but glitches within some time continuum. Rare time slips interacting with each other.

How our body’s own frequency interacts not only with the environment around it but the universe as a whole. Energy, yet another unseen element in many aspects is something we need to understand in a much larger level.

There are so many different cutting edge research, experimentation and investigations into the paranormal that are bringing pieces of the unknown together for a better understanding of what was once dark into the light. In the next couple of blog entries I will explore some of these exciting ventures.

Like the ever changing landscape of religion and mass belief so is the way we look at the paranormal. Forget what much of the TV shows preach, remember it’s for entertainment purposes. Don’t always believe what they are telling you…..

Here is a series of different takes on the same original photo I took back in April 2012 during a walk through pre-investigation old abandoned historical location in Hamilton, Ontario. Due to a privacy agreement with the site’s owner, I’m unable to share it’s name.

These pictures have been shown to a select list of people involved with the paranormal, skeptics as well as photography experts, all of which so far can’t explain the phenomena shown here. These are still very much under review.

This first picture is the original unedited photo taken. The second has been giving an infrared filter to brighten the shadows up a bit. The third has the original run through a professional infrared spectrograph to find any photo glitches or anomalies, there are none. The fourth is a zoomed version of the section of the photo which seems to indicate something.

Ok, so I’ve been slacking with these more regular blog entries. Well, at least I have at least one excuse, the holidays diverted a bulk of my attention. Now that they are long over with and here we are in the ever so mentioned 2012, maybe these entries will be more regular as promised. Well, depending on if the prophecy of Armageddon doesn’t sidetrack that! Of course, I’m not much of a believer in that whole money grabbing schematic anyhow.

One thing is for sure, I’m actually very excited to get back into the heat of investigating the paranormal. That too has taken a bit of a holiday as well. So, finally tonight things begin to roll once again! Along with the group I founded back in 2005 SOPS we are returning to a location that has always been a special place for me. A place that we have experienced many different aspects that seem to defy our current understanding of the unknown, including some of my more memorable personal experiences.

Those close to me know exactly which location I’m referring too. Due to some rogue elements that tend to be a throne in our side and too many that research this area seriously, I’m keeping it on the lowdown until we have completed the task.

This time, we will be expanding the field of our investigation into this location with two new elements. One of which I have been a huge skeptic of. The first being Full Spectral Video, something I have wanted to experiment with for awhile now and finally will tonight. The second being the one I’ve been a huge skeptic of but have decided to give it a try, the ITC Spirit Box or to some The Ghost Box. I’m still not completely convinced of its effectiveness through what I have read and some of the poor examples of “evidence” that people publish as such. So, tonight we will put this little instrument to the test and see for ourselves.

All in all, the main objective is to learn and at the same time have fun with the investigation. There needs to be that balance to fully understand just what we are searching for. Though always remembering that we must be vigilante in what we “claim” to be “evidence” leaving it open for you all to make that judgement call yourselves. What we present is simply beyond our understanding and scrutiny through those in the exact fields that would harbor better knowledge in the medium in which the specific “evidence” falls under. You notice I don’t mention “experts” in there at all. For good reason, I believe even those “experts” ate humbled when it comes to examine the great unknown!

THE EVIL CABALIST

There is an individual who not only seeks fame and recognition, but also misery from those who try to expose his many lies. I admit. this does sound familiar of a lot of people out there in this world of ours, but trust me, this particular person has gone to great lengths in his quest to cast his profligacy not just on a rival, but those who come to the support of that rival. A man who hides behind a cloth, a religious cloth for that matter. Yes, a BOGUS BISHOP if you will! This Bogus Bishop has wrecked a flurry of words across the internet, about a certain cabal…an EVIL CABAL! The very people who along with this Cabal’s leader David Farrant, conspire against the Bogus Bishop.

Now, those of you who know me, know of my radio show, Nocturnal Frequency Radio and how we deal with the paranormal, supernatural and the unknown. We indulge with trying to better understanding the issues in the realm, and of course with that comes people who make claims that just don’t ring true. One such is that of an aspect in a case dubbed The Highgate Vampire.  There has been a longstanding feud between two individuals on just what really went down in Highgate Cemetery all those years ago. David Farrant who I’ve had on the show many times to explain his side of the issue, and of course the other individual who we will leave nameless, other then calling him, Bogus Bishop, has ignored invitations to the show to explain his side.

It breaks down like this, David Farrant believe that whatever being that roamed that cemetery, one that I might add, he came face to face with, was something of an energy being. One that latched onto your energy and drained you of it. Where the other individual or Bogus Bishop believes it or was, that of an actual vampire! The very same of which you would see in the movies. Yes, you are safe to picture a bishop carrying his cross, stake and hammer and hunting it, because you would be very close! Now, again for those who know me, know that I would without proper evidence believe the latter explanation of what went down in that cemetery 40 years ago.

Now, I won’t get into the dispute between the two, but it is with not only doing some prior research on the case, hearing interviews with both parties and having David on NFR, that I came to a conclusion. That very person hiding behind the cloth is a simple charlatan and will stop at nothing to seek his fame and fortune. And it is this stance that I have taken, that I have been added to the “EVIL CABAL”. Don’t get me wrong, I like many others who have been adorned with this honor, wear the badges with pride. Still, it’s the rederick that this Bogus Bishop spews through his many incantations or shall I say, like the personality of a bishop, he so uses that of the Hungarian traveler  Arminius Vambery. Yes, an impersonator would be the easy way to explain it.  Boldly, yet with a blind eye, tries to breakdown each of the different “EVIL CABAL” members through the seemingly endless hours searching Google for his footnotes. Hmmm, don’t bishops have more important religious based manners at stake…oh may, there’s that word, the magical word, STAKE! I forgot that along with this particular individual prancing around in a store bought priest costume , he also carries with him a Vampire hunting background. Of course, that part of his gig can be chatted about later.

It’s interesting that I being here in Canada along with my co-host Alex who also has been sworn into Farrant’s EVIL CABAL through the Bogus Bishop’s fingers typing feverishly on his computer’s keyboard. I’m sure his fingers continuously motion to type even when absent from his PC, oh wait..is that possible, that he actually takes the time to step away from it? Anyhow, in ending this “mindless rant” as I’m sure the bishop would see this as, but none the less be affected by. I have one request, “PLEASE USE BETTER PICTURES OF ME!!!” (In case you miss it, look below for a more appropriate picture to use in your latest “EVIL CABAL” rant!

For those who know me, know that I love to hike. Why? Simple, it’s not only a great way to keep in shape, but to discover things that most would completely overlook. Of course depending on just where you hike that is. Myself, I find wooded trails that have loads of history to them. Maybe harboring some old abandoned trails that haven’t been used in many years. I’m one for discovering abandoned aspects.

So, yes the time of the year also seems to heighten my interest in veering of the main trails. With much of the foliage fallen to the ground, things that very harder to spot seem easier. So, while out there in the midst of deep wooded area, the trees seemingly endless all around, my mood becomes motivated in thinking that at one point in these very areas, was there an ancient people, native or not who worshipped the spirits who might roam these very woods?

Now, those who continue to know me, know that I have investigated the paranormal for close to 20 years now. Something that never strays far from even everyday life. Especially while hiking. I have found many areas along my travels along those trails that would highly suggest some sort of past activities towards some sort of worship. In fact it’s well know that in the 60’s into the 70’s there was heavy Occult activity in areas which I have hiked. One area in particular I call THE DEVIL’S MOUND/RING in which lays an almost perfect circled ring of ancient rocks that has one entrance/exit to it. There are both rumors of it being an old native burial mound, while others have said there was heavy Occult worship on the very same spot. To date I have found little or now evidence that suggests either ever happening. Though, I can tell you, there is an aura of strangeness that surrounds this very area. There trees that grow along the rim of rocks, grow and point inwards to the center of the formation. There is high readings of EMF inside the ring. Also, I have captured strange EVP in and around the formation.

Of course this doesn’t exactly suggests its paranormal in nature, but doesn’t completed discounts it either. More work needs to be done there. Still, this is only but one area along my hikes that bring out my curiosities especially during the weeks that lead up to Halloween.

Just today, while hiking along a route I have never travelled, I discovered an old abandoned road that it seems hadn’t been used in decades. Judging by the amount of growth along around and even on the old road, that much was evident. Though I travelled a fair distance along it, I didn’t follow it too the very end or where it may lead me too. That is very the next hike! Of course the reason I point this out is simple, with the big open fields the road lead me through, thoughts were. What might have happened in these fields years ago? Ancient ceremonies? We’ll see as I look forward to further discovering and around the perfect season!

There is something about an old abandoned farmhouse sitting alone surrounded by circle of old maple trees and miles of farm field. A long dirt road leading up to an old war torn bridge and barns that house some very interesting histories to them. Never really noticed while driving along the main country road at night, as it looks like any other farmhouse. The porch light on at night, but this light is not on indicating life is housed within it’s walls, but to ward off any curious beings from trespassing through it’s now abandoned empty shell. Upon a closer look, which I took a few years ago simply by stumbling upon it. The grass and weeds have begun it’s reclaim around the house, the many years of changing weathers have beaten it’s once armored walls. The painted wood porch has slowly began to sliver and peel, inviting hoards of leftover bee’s nests dried up in the corners.

Mid afternoon, I drove the car to about the midway point of the old dirt driveway, almost up to the old wood bridge. I didn’t trust it, didn’t look to healthy. I walked the rest of the way. The sun shining, the birds chirping and the fall winds were warm. I had originally wanted to take photos of the area as it intrigued me. First was to see if there was anyone still living there. As I approached the front steps and eventually up to the front door. I first peered into the the door’s big window. Nothing, no furniture, no living in sight. Then I circled the house house and discovered that the back kitchen door had been left open. Of course curiosity caught this cat’s eye’s and I entered. Still with photography my main focus, I took pictures as I made my way inside. As the door closed behind me, I noticed the dying beeping of an old smoke/fire alarm indicating the batteries were on their last legs. “Hello” I yelled out, “Is there anyone here?” I followed with. Nothing, just pure silence. The inside was in great shape, though there was  noticeable water damage beginning on areas of the walls. The paint was peeling all around, falling to the wood floor. There were two staircases, adjacent to one another  almost running under one another with only a room in between. I proceeded up the front stairs to the upper level and as I made my way to the top of the stairs, it started. It sounded like it was coming from the attic just above me, walking or movement. As I started to look around, it seem to follow me above. Though a bit unnerved, I though maybe just a huge animal, maybe a raccoon or something along those lines. Still as I wandered through the different rooms investigating the top floor’s maze of a layout, whatever was above in the attic continued to follow. Then I made my way to the one front room, just above just inside the door, the entrance to the attic. As I entered the room and looked up, I felt it’s presence there on the other side of that attic hatch. It was intelligent, seemingly big and now very silent. I snapped some final pictures and made my way back down to the main floor.

The whole time in there I noticed a very overwhelming sense of dread or negativity. Something that has been a common energy for all that have entered during our many investigations after my initial visit. Since then through researching it’s past, there have been a few details that have come to light through several avenues. Some of the more notable being the suicides of two women on two separate occasions. One from the antenna atop the roof and the other from somewhere within the walls of the main barn. In fact I remember the first visitation there and noticing the police tape still in one stairwell leading down to the lower stable of the barn.

Upon investigations, several unnerving EVPS have made their presence. One even calling my name as I was walking down the front stairwell. Chilling, though something about it’s presence draws us back. In fact just days ago, we visited and once again it seem to bring an mysterious atmospheric aura out. One that has along with the time of the year wanting to explore the unknown once again!
